Claus Eggers was born in Hamburg, Germany. His father, a prominent member of society, wanted Claus to continue in the family tradition. Instead, Claus travelled the world. The remembrance of the sights and smells of Africa and Asia compel his creative sensitivities to this day.

Claus attended Hamburg Arts Academy, and holds a MA in painting and Eastern philosophy.

After graduating, Claus moved to New York to build his own studio. This immediately attracted an impressive roster of clients: Bloomingdales, Coty, Avon, Revlon. Claus shot award-winning editorial photographs Carolina Herrera, Halston, Liz Claiborne, and others. His work has appeared in many publications, including Harpers Bazaar, Vogue, Brides, and Interview.

Claus has exhibited in many individual and group shows, and has served as the director of photography for two motion pictures. He has produced and directed television commercials and short films.
